You bring the people.
I’ll handle the pictures.
Outdoor Portrait Photography · Central New York
I'm paying
attention.
There’s a lot happening during a session that you probably aren't thinking about.
I’m watching the light, the background, your positioning, your hands, your expression, and the little details that can make a photograph work.
I’ll make adjustments when something isn't working, change things up when we need variety, and keep an eye on what is happening around you.
You don't have to manage the photograph. That's my job.
The Light
I’m watching how the light changes and where it works best.
The Details
Hair, hands, posture, backgrounds, distractions— I’m paying attention to the little things.
The Photograph
I’m looking at the whole frame, not just the people standing in it.
Find the Session That Fits.
From senior portraits to family photographs, each session is planned around who is being photographed, what we are creating, and where it makes the most sense.
Your next chapter.
Senior sessions with plenty of variety. We’ll move through different poses, angles, expressions, outfits, and locations so your gallery feels like a complete collection—not the same photograph repeated with a slightly different pose.
Explore Senior Portraits →The two of you.
Couples sessions that balance direction with room to interact. I’ll help you into poses that photograph well, then change things up with movement, different angles, and the location around you so the gallery has variety.
Explore Couples →Your people.
Family sessions are more than getting everyone looking at the camera once. We’ll photograph the full group, smaller combinations, individual portraits, and the relationships within your family so you leave with a gallery that covers more than one arrangement.

Every image gets the time it deserves.
After your session, I go through every single photo and take my time editing them. I look at the brightness, colors, skin tones, anything distracting and the little things that can make an image look more finished.
Not every photo needs the exact same edit. Some need a little more light, some need more warmth, and sometimes a photo just comes to life better in black and white.
And yes, I get a little creative with an image. 😂 I may include a different edit in your gallery simply because the way a photograph is edited can completely change how it feels—and you never know which version will end up being your favorite.
My editing style is typically warm, soft, and natural, but I let the photograph decide what it needs.
Basically, I look at each photo and make it look its best.
Natural doesn't mean unplanned.
Direction
I'll tell you where to go, what to do, and when we need to change it up. You don't need to memorize a list of poses before you arrive.
Variety
Different poses, angles, distances, expressions, groupings, and locations give us more to work with when your gallery comes together.
Attention to Detail
I'm watching more than whether everyone is smiling. I'm looking at hands, eyes, hair, posture, backgrounds, light, and everything inside the frame.
I'm Jennelle.
I’m the photographer behind Nellie Bug Photography, creating outdoor portraits for seniors, couples, and families throughout Central New York.
I’m a self-taught photographer who has built her craft through years of hands-on experience, with a focus on light, composition, posing, and creating photographs that are thoughtfully put together. I know how to work with the light, direct a session, make adjustments when something isn't working, and pay attention to what’s happening inside the frame.
I’m definitely a “wait, let me fix that” kind of photographer. 😂 Whether it’s a hand, a pose, a stray hair, or the fact that I just spotted better light ten feet away, I’m going to say something. That’s what I bring to every session.
